Abu Bakr said, "Messenger of Allah, instruct me with words to say each morning and each evening."He replied, "Say, 'O Allah, Knower of the unseen and the seen, Originator of the heavens and the earth, Lord and Sovereign of all things, I bear witness that there is no god but You. I seek refuge in You from the evil of my own soul, and from the evil of Satan and his associating partners with You.'"He added, "Say it when you rise in the morning, when evening comes, and when you lie down to sleep."
قال أبو بكر: يا رسول الله مرني بشيء أقوله إذا أصبحت وإذا أمسيت؟ قال: قل: اللهم عالم الغيب والشهادة فاطر السموات والأرض رب كل شيء ومليكه، أشهد أن لا إله إلا أنت أعوذ بك من شر نفسي، ومن شر الشيطان وشركه قال: قله إذا أصبحت وإذا أمسيت وإذا أخذت مضجعك.
Reported by Abu Dawud (5067), Tirmidhi (3392), Bukhari in Adab al-Mufrad (1202, 1203), and Ahmad (7961). Ibn Hibban (962) and Hakim (1/513) both graded it sahih. All of them narrated it through various routes from Yaala bin Ata, who said, "I heard Amr bin Asim narrating from Abu Hurairah," and he related it. Its chain of transmission is sahih.Tirmidhi said, "This is a hasan sahih hadith."Hakim said, "This is a hadith with a sahih chain of transmission."
