When the Prophet ﷺ rose in the morning, he would say, "O Allah, by You we enter the morning and by You we enter the evening, by You we live and by You we die, and to You is the resurrection."And when evening came, he would say, "O Allah, by You we enter the evening and by You we enter the morning, by You we live and by You we die, and to You is the final return."
كان النبي ﷺ إذا أصبح قال: اللهم بك أصبحنا وبك أمسينا وبك نحيا وبك نموت وإليك النشور. وإذا أمسى قال: اللهم بك أمسينا وبك أصبحنا وبك نحيا وبك نموت وإليك المصير.
Bukhari reported it in Adab al-Mufrad (1199), and this is his wording, Abu Dawud (5068), Tirmidhi (3391), Ibn Majah (3868), and Ahmad (8649), and Ibn Hibban graded it sahih (964, 965). All of them narrated it through various routes from Suhayl bin Abu Salih, from his father, from Abu Hurairah, who related it.Some of them did not mention "the evening," while others mentioned it as part of the matter ﷺ. Its chain of transmission is sahih. Nawawi also graded it sahih in Adhkar. Tirmidhi said, "This is a hasan hadith."That is because the chain in Tirmidhi's version includes Abdullah bin Jafar, the father of Ali bin Madini, who is daif. However, he is corroborated elsewhere, for the hadith has been narrated from Suhayl through several routes, some of which are sahih in themselves.
