Bukhari related it in the Book of Faith (13), and Muslim in the Book of Faith (45), both from the hadith of Shuba, from Qatada, from Anas, as mentioned. Muslim also related it through another route, from Yahya bin Saeed, from Husayn al-Muallim, from Qatada, and in it, "By the One in whose hand is my soul, no servant believes until he loves for his neighbor, or for his brother, what he loves for himself." Bukhari mentioned it saying, "And from Husayn al-Muallim, who said, Qatada narrated to us," except that he only carried the wording of Shuba. A disagreement arose among the commentators as to whether this is a suspended chain (mualaq) or connected by conjunction to Shuba. Hafiz held that it is connected by conjunction to Shuba, and he was harsh toward those who said otherwise, saying, "...along with other things that would repel anyone who has practiced any of the science of the isnad."Ibn Hibban related it (235) through the route of Ibn Abu Adi, from Husayn al-Muallim, with his chain, and in it, "A servant does not attain the reality of faith until he loves for people what he loves of good for himself." Ibn Abu Adi is Muhammad bin Ibrahim bin Abu Adi, a trustworthy narrator among the men of the Jamaah.
