Huzaifa bin Yaman reported,

Whenever we attended a meal with the Prophet ﷺ, we would not put our hands to the food until the Messenger of Allah ﷺ began and placed his hand first. On one occasion, we were present with him at a meal when a Jariya came rushing as though being pushed forward, and she went to put her hand in the food. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ caught hold of her hand. Then an Arabi came rushing as though being pushed, and he caught his hand as well. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Satan considers food permissible for himself when the name of Allah is not mentioned over it. He brought this Jariya so he could partake through her, but I caught her hand. Then he brought this Arabi so he could partake through him, but I caught his hand. By the One in whose hand my soul is, his hand is in my hand along with hers."
