Aqeel bin Abu Talib married a woman from the tribe of Banu Jusham. The people said to him, "May you live in harmony and have many sons."He replied, "Say instead what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'May Allah bless you and bestow His blessings upon you.'"
تزوج عقيل بن أبي طالب امرأة من بني جشم، فقيل له: بالرفاء والبنين قال: قولوا كما قال رسول الله ﷺ: بارك الله فيكم، وبارك لكم.
Narrated by Nasai (3371), and this is his wording, Ibn Majah (1906), Ahmad (1739), Bayhaqi (7/148), and Darimi (2119), all of them through various routes from Hasan, who said, then he mentioned it. Bayhaqi's wording is, "Aqeel bin Abu Talib came to Basra." Hasan lived alongside Aqeel for approximately forty years, so it is not unlikely that Aqeel's arrival in Basra occurred during that period. The hadith has other routes mentioned in the book on marriage.
