The Prophet ﷺ held his wedding feast for Zaynab bint Jahsh with bread and meat. She sent me out to invite people to the meal. A group would come, eat, and leave, then another group would come, eat, and leave. I kept inviting people until I could find no one else to invite.I said, "Prophet of Allah, I cannot find anyone else to invite."He said, "Clear away your food."Three men remained behind, chatting in the house. The Prophet ﷺ left and went to Ayesha's room and said, "Peace be upon you, people of the household, and the mercy of Allah."She replied, "And upon you be peace and the mercy of Allah. How did you find your wife? May Allah bless you…" and the rest of the hadith.
بني على النبي بزينب بنت جحش ﷺ بخبز ولحم، فأرسلت على الطعام داعيا، فيجيء قوم فيأكلون ويخرجون، ثم يجيء قوم فيأكلون ويخرجون. فدعوت حتى ما أجد أحدا أدعو. فقلت: يا نبي الله ما أجد أحدا أدعوه. قال: أرفعوا طعامكم. وبقي ثلاثة رهط يتحدثون في البيت، فخرج النبي ﷺ فانطلق إلى حجرة عائشة فقال: السلام عليكم أهل البيت ورحمة الله فقالت: وعليك السلام ورحمة الله، كيف وجدت أهلك، بارك الله لك… الحديث.
Bukhari narrated it in the tafsir (4793) from Abu Muamar, who said, Abdul-Warith narrated to us, who said, Abdul-Aziz bin Suhayb narrated to us, from Anas, and he mentioned it. Muslim narrated it in the nikah (1428) through other routes from Anas, similarly.
