The people came to the Prophet ﷺ weeping, so he said, "O Allah, give us rain that brings relief, wholesome, abundantly nourishing, beneficial and not harmful, swift and not delayed."The sky then closed in over them with rain.
أنت النبي ﷺ بواكي، فقال: اللهم اسقنا غيثا مغيثا مريئا مريعا نافعا غير ضار، عاجلا غير آجل قال: فأطبقت عليهم السماء.
Abu Dawud (1169) narrated it, and Ibn Khuzayma (1416) and Hakim (1/327) both graded it sahih, all of them through the route of Muhammad bin Ubayd, who said, Masaar narrated to us, from Yazid the Faqih, from Jabir bin Abdullah, and he related it. Its isnad is sahih, and Yazid the Faqih is Ibn Suhayb al-Kufi, known as al-Faqih. Hakim said, "Sahih according to the standard of the two Shaykhs." His statement "bawaki" is the plural of "bakiyah," meaning weeping souls came, or weeping women.
