I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "Messenger of Allah, I am a young man, and I fear hardship upon myself, yet I cannot find the means to marry. Will you permit me to castrate myself?"He remained silent. I repeated the same request three times.Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Abu Hurayrah, the pen has already dried regarding what you will encounter, so castrate yourself on that basis or leave it."
أتيت رسول الله ﷺ فقلت: يا رسول الله، إني رجل شاب، وإني أخاف على نفسي العنت، ولا أجد ما أتزوج به النساء، فاذن لي أن أختصي؟ قال: فسكت عني، ثم قلت مثل ذلك ثلاث مرات. فقال رسول الله ﷺ: يا أبا هريرة قد جف القلم بما أنت لاق، فاختص على ذلك أو ذر.
Ibn Wahb narrated it in Qadar (16) from Yunus bin Yazid, from Ibn Shihab, from Abu Salama bin Abdul-Rahman, from Abu Hurairah, and he related it. Ibn Abu Asim narrated it through his route in Sunnah (110), and its isnad is sahih.Bukhari related it with a suspended chain (5076) from Asbagh, who said, "Ibn Wahb informed me," with his isnad, similarly. Firyabi connected it in Qadar (437) from Muhammad bin Ishaq Abu Bakr, "Asbagh bin Farj informed me, Ibn Wahb told me it," and he related it.Nasai narrated it (3215) through the route of Uzai, from Ibn Shihab, with his isnad, similarly, and Nasai said, "Uzai did not hear this hadith from Zuhri, and this is a sahih hadith that Yunus narrated from Zuhri."
