He said, I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "There is no one who makes a supplication except that Allah grants him what he asked for, or wards off from him an equivalent harm, so long as he does not supplicate for something sinful or for the severing of family ties."
قال سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول: ما من أحد يدعو بدعاء إلا آتاه الله ما سأل أو كف عنه من السوء مثله ما لم يدع بإثم أو قطيعة رحم.
Tirmidhi (3381) and Ahmad (14879) both narrated it from Qutayba bin Saeed, who said, Ibn Lahia narrated to us, from Abu Zubayr, from Jabir, who mentioned it.Its chain is hasan because of Ibn Lahia, about whom there is well-known discussion, but what Qutayba bin Saeed narrated from him is sound, like the narrations of the Abadila.
