Abu Hurairah reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me, "Whomever you meet who testifies that there is no god but Allah, with his heart convinced of it, give him the glad tidings of Paradise."Umar struck him with his hand and said, "Go back."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "Umar, what made you do that?"Umar replied, "Messenger of Allah, may my father and mother be sacrificed for you, did you send Abu Hurayrah with your sandals to give the glad tidings of Paradise to whomever he meets who testifies that there is no god but Allah, with his heart convinced of it?"He said, "Yes."Umar said, "Do not do that, for I fear that people will rely on it. Let them keep working."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Then let them be."
