I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Excellent, excellent!" gesturing with his hand to indicate five things, "How heavy they will be on the scales! Glory be to Allah, praise be to Allah, there is no god but Allah, Allah is the greatest, and a righteous child who passes away while the Muslim parent patiently seeks the reward from Allah."
Nasai reported it in Amal al-Yawm wal-Layla (167), Ibn Abu Asim in al-Sunnah (800), and Ibn Hibban graded it sahih (833), as did Hakim (1/511–512), all of them through Walid bin Muslim, who said, Abdullah bin Ala bin Zabr and Abdul-Rahman bin Yazid bin Jabir told us, they said, Abu Salam Aswad told us, Abu Salma, the shepherd of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, told me, and then he mentioned the hadith. Except that in Hakim's chain there is no mention of Abdullah bin Ala. Hakim said, "This is a hadith sahih in its chain."I say, it is as he said. The chain has been disputed regarding Abu Salam. Some named him Abu Salma, as in the hadith mentioned, some left the companion of the hadith unnamed, some named him Thawban, and some named him Safinah. Mizzi said in Tuhfat Ashraf (9/220), "It seems that the hadith of Walid bin Muslim is closer to being correct."
