ﷺ reported that the Prophet ﷺ said, "In Ramadan, the gates of heaven are opened, the gates of Hell are closed, and every rebellious devil is chained. A caller proclaims every night, 'Seeker of good, come forward. Seeker of evil, hold back.'"
Narrated by Nasai (2108) and Ahmad (18794), both from the hadith of Muhammad bin Jafar, who said, our teacher Shubah narrated to us, from Ata bin Saaib, from Arfaja, who said, I was in a house in which Utbah bin Farqad was present, so I wanted to narrate a hadith. He said, there was a man among the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ who seemed more entitled to narrate it than I was. He said, so the man narrated from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that he said (then he mentioned the hadith). Its chain of transmission is hasan because of Arfaja, who is Ibn Abdullah Thaqafi, whom Ajli and Ibn Hibban both deemed trustworthy, and a number of narrators reported from him. Ata bin Saaib had his memory become mixed up in his later years, but Shubah's transmission from him was before that mixing occurred.
