The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "A woman must not ask for the divorce of her sister so that she may empty her bowl and marry in her place, for she will only receive what has been decreed for her."
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال: لا تسأل المرأة طلاق أختها لتستفرغ صحفتها، ولتنكح، فإنما لها ما قدر لها.
Malik related it in al-Qadar (7) from Abu Zinad, from Araj, from Abu Hurairah, as mentioned.Bukhari related it in al-Qadar (6601) from Abdullah bin Yusuf, from Malik, with his chain of transmission, in similar wording.Ibn Abdul-Barr said, "This hadith is one of the best hadiths on qadar according to scholars, because of what it demonstrates, namely that if the husband were to grant her request and divorce the one she thinks is competing with her for her provision, she would still receive nothing beyond what Allah had already decreed for her, whether he granted her request or not. This is like His saying, Most High, "Say, 'Nothing will befall us except what Allah has decreed for us'" [Tawbah 9:51]."
