The Prophet ﷺ said, "It will soon happen that a petty man will be appointed as a ruler over them, and people will gather around him with shaven napes and white shirts. Whenever he commands them with something, they come running to carry it out."Then it pleased your Lord that Abdullah bin Wazzaj was appointed as governor over some cities, and a group of Persian landowners gathered around him, with shaven napes and white shirts. Whenever he commanded them with something, they came running to carry it out.So he would say, "Allah and His Messenger have spoken the truth."

Tabarani narrated it, and from him Abu Naeem in Marifat Sahabah (4548), from Muhammad bin Abdul-Wahhab bin Najdah, who said, my father narrated to us, Ismail bin Ayyash narrated to us, from Safwan bin Amr, from Abdul-Rahman bin Jubayr bin Nufayr, from his father, who said, "Abdullah bin Wazzaj had long been a companion, and he narrated to us that the Prophet ﷺ said," the hadith. Its isnad is hasan because of Ismail bin Ayyash Himsi, for his narrations are hasan when he transmits from the Syrians, and this narration is one of those. Perhaps this happened on two separate occasions, once in the time of Abdullah bin Wazzaj, and again in the time of Jaza bin Suhayl Sulami.
