He attended a funeral at al-Awsat in the home of Saad bin Ubada, then he set out walking toward the tribe of Amr bin Awf in the courtyard of the tribe of Harith bin Khazraj.Someone asked him, "Where are you headed, Abu Abd al-Rahman?"He replied, "I am headed to this mosque among the tribe of Amr bin Awf, for I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Whoever prays in it, it is equivalent to performing an Umra.'"

Ibn Hibban narrated it (1627) from Hasan bin Sufyan, who said, "Ahmad bin Ibrahim Dawraqi told us, Shababa told us, Asim bin Suwayd told us, Dawud bin Ismail Ansari told me," from Ibn Umar, and he related it.Dawud bin Ismail Ansari was narrated from by Mujammi bin Yaqub Ansari and Asim bin Suwayd. No one deemed him reliable except Ibn Hibban, who included him among his trustworthy narrators. But this is strengthened by what Ibn Abu Shayba narrated, attributed only to Ibn Umar himself, in his Musannaf (7613), from Abu Khalid Sulayman bin Hayan, from Saad bin Ishaq, from Sulayt bin Saad, who said, "I heard Ibn Umar say, 'Whoever sets out intending Quba, intending nothing else, and prays there, it is as if he performed an umrah.'" Its chain of transmission is hasan because of Abu Khalid Sulayman bin Hayan, for his hadith is hasan. This report attributed only to Ibn Umar strengthens the one traced back to the Prophet, because matters of reward and punishment leave no room for personal reasoning. Ibn Umar related it in one instance as going back to the Prophet, and in another as his own statement, though it carries the same weight as if it were traced to the Prophet.Similar in meaning is what was reported from Usayd bin Zuhayr Ansari, who was one of the companions of the Prophet ﷺ, relating from the Prophet ﷺ that he said, "Prayer in masjid Quba is like an umrah." Tirmidhi (324), Ibn Majah (1411), and Hakim (1/487) all narrated it through Abdul-Hameed bin Jafar, who said, "Abu Abrad, the freedman of Banu Khatma, told us that he heard Usayd bin Zuhayr relating it," and so he related it.Abu Abrad is Ziyad Madani, the freedman of Banu Khatma. No one narrated from him except Abdul-Hameed bin Jafar, so he is unknown. The Prophet's ﷺ choice of Saturday for visiting Quba holds one of its secrets, which is that he ﷺ used to visit the people of Quba on Saturday to check on those who had not attended Friday prayer, because he ﷺ, as Allah described him,"There has certainly come to you a Messenger from among yourselves, grievous to him is that you should suffer, deeply concerned for you, and to the believers he is kind and merciful." [Tawbah 9:128]After his ﷺ death, visiting masjid Quba on Saturday and praying there remained a recommended practice, like the brisk walking done during tawaf, and Ibn Umar used to visit masjid Quba every Saturday.
