Salim Sablan reported,

A man came to Abu Saeed Khudri, having been struck by hardship and difficulty in Medina, and said to him, "I have a large family, and severe hardship has befallen us, so I want to move my family to some place in the countryside."Abu Saeed replied, "Do not do that. Stay in Medina. We went out with the Prophet of Allah ﷺ," (I think he said) "until we reached Usfan, where he stayed for several nights. The people said, 'By Allah, we are achieving nothing being here, and our families are unprotected. We do not feel safe about them.'This reached the Prophet ﷺ, and he said, 'What is this I have heard about what you have been saying?' (I do not know exactly how he put it). He said, 'By the One I swear by,' or 'By the One in whose hand my soul is, I have resolved,' or 'If you wish,' (I do not know which of the two he said) 'I will order my she-camel to be saddled, and then I will not loosen a single knot of her gear until I reach Medina.'Then he said, 'O Allah, Ibrahim made Mecca sacred and declared it a sanctuary. I declare Medina a sanctuary between its two mountain passes, that no blood shall be shed in it, no weapon shall be carried in it for fighting, and no tree shall be stripped of its leaves in it except as fodder. O Allah, bless us in our city. O Allah, bless us in our saa. O Allah, bless us in our mudd. O Allah, bless us in our saa. O Allah, bless us in our mudd. O Allah, bless us in our city. O Allah, place with the blessing two blessings. By the One in whose hand my soul is, there is no mountain pass or opening into Medina but that two angels are upon it guarding it until you return to it.'Then he said to the people, 'Set out.' So we set out and headed for Medina. By the One we swear by," or "by the One he swears by," (the doubt is from Hammad) "we had not even set down our saddles upon entering Medina when Banu Abdullah bin Ghatafan raided it, and nothing had stirred them up against it before that."

عن أبي سعيد مولى المهري

أنه أصابهم بالمدينة جهد وشدة. وأنه أتى أبا سعيد الخدري. فقال له: إني كثير العيال. وقد أصابتنا شدة فأردت أن أنقل عيالى إلى بعض الريف. فقال أبو سعيد: لا تفعل. الزم المدينة، فإنا خرجنا مع نبي الله ﷺ (أظن أنه قال) حتى قدمنا عسفان فأقام بها ليالي فقال الناس: والله ما نحن ههنا في شيء. وإن عيالنا لخلوف، ما نأمن عليهم. فبلغ ذلك النبي ﷺ فقال: ما هذا الذي بلغني من حديثكم؟ (ما أدري كيف قال). قال والذي أحلف به أو والذي نفسي بيده لقد هممت أو إن شئتم (لا أدري أيتهما قال) لآمرن بناقتي ترحل ثم لا أحل لها عقدة حتى أقدم المدينة. وقال: اللهم إن إبراهيم حرم مكة فجعلها حرما، إني حرمت المدينة حراما ما بين مأزميها، أن لا يهراق فيها دم، ولا يحمل فيها سلاح لقتال، ولا تخبط فيها شجرة إلا لعلف، اللهم بارك لنا في مدينتنا، اللهم بارك لنا في صاعنا، اللهم بارك لنا في مدنا، اللهم بارك لنا في صاعنا، اللهم بارك لنا في مدنا، اللهم بارك لنا في مدينتنا، اللهم اجعل مع البركة بركتين والذي نفسي بيده ما من المدينة من شعب ولا نقب إلا عليه ملكان يحرسانها حتى تقدموا إليها ثم قال للناس: ارتحلوا. فارتحلنا فأقبلنا إلى المدينة، فوالذي نحلف به أو يحلف به الشك من حماد ما وضعنا رحالنا حين دخلنا المدينة حتى أغار عليها بنو عبد الله بن غطفان، وما يهيجهم قبل ذلك شيء.
