I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ one day, as he looked toward Syria and said, "O Allah, turn their hearts toward us." Then he looked toward Iraq and said something similar. He looked toward every horizon and did the same, saying, "O Allah, grant us provision from the fruits of the earth, and bless us in our mudd and our saa."
سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يوما، ونظر إلى الشام فقال: اللهم أقبل بقلوبهم ونظر إلى العراق فقال نحو ذلك، ونظر قبل كل أفق، ففعل ذلك، وقال: اللهم ارزقنا من ثمرات الأرض، وبارك لنا في مدنا وصاعنا.
Ahmad (14690) narrated it from Hasan (that is, Ibn Musa Ashyab), who said, Ibn Lahia narrated to us, Abu Zubayr narrated to us, from Jabir, who said, then he mentioned it. Its chain is hasan because of Ibn Lahia, for his narration is hasan when the Abadila and Qutayba bin Saeed narrate from him. Abdullah bin Wahb narrated it from Ibn Lahia with this same chain, similarly, as found in Ibn Asakir in his history (281/1).Bukhari narrated it in Adab al-Mufrad (482), and Bazzar in Kashf Astar (1184), both through the route of Ismail bin Abu Uways, who said, Ibn Abu Zinad narrated to me, from Musa bin Uqba, from Abu Zubayr, from Jabir, with the same wording, except that it has, he looked toward "Yemen" instead of "Syria" and said, "O Allah, turn their hearts toward us." The rest of the hadith follows. Its chain is hasan because of Ismail bin Abu Uways, for his narration is hasan.Haythami said in Majma (304/3), "Ahmad and Bazzar narrated it, and its chain is hasan."
