He said, I witnessed the Messenger of Allah ﷺ supplicating for this clan of Nakha, or he said praising them, until I wished I were one of them.
قال شهدت رسول الله ﷺ يدعو لهذا الحي من النخع- أو قال: يثني عليهم- حتى تمنيت أني رجل منهم.
Ahmad narrated it (3826), and Bazzar in Kashf Astar (2830), both via the route of Zakariya bin Abdullah bin Yazid, from his father, who said, "A shaykh from Banu Assad told me," saying either Shaqiq (that is, Ibn Salama), or Zirr (that is, Ibn Hubaysh), from Abdullah, who said, then he narrated the hadith.Haythami mentioned it in Majma (10/51) and said, "Ahmad, Bazzar, and Tabarani narrated it, and the men of Ahmad's chain are trustworthy." Hafiz also graded it hasan in Fath al-Bari (100/8).I say, it is as they both said, for it contains Zakariya bin Abdullah bin Yazid al-Nakhai, then al-Sahbani, Abu Yahya al-Kufi, from whom Qutayba bin Saeed, Yahya bin Ubayd Hamid Hamani, and others narrated. Ibn Main said, "There is no harm in him," and Ibn Hibban mentioned him in Thiqat.
