The delegation of Banu Amir came to the Prophet ﷺ, and I was with them. We found him at al-Abtah in a red tent. We greeted him, and he asked, "Who are you?"We replied, "Banu Amir bin Saasaah."He said, "Welcome to you. You are from me, and I am from you."The time for prayer arrived, so Bilal stood and called the adhan, turning around as he made the call. Then a vessel of water was brought to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he performed wudu. Some of the water from his wudu remained, and we eagerly took from what was left to perform wudu ourselves.Then Bilal called the iqamah, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ led us in a prayer of two units. When the time for Asr arrived, Bilal stood and called the adhan, turning around as he made the call, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ led us in a prayer of two units.
قدم وفد بني عامر، وكنت معهم إلى النبي ﷺ، فوجدناه بالأبطح في قبة حمراء فسلمنا عليه، فقال: من أنتم؟ قلنا: بنو عامر بن صعصعة، قال: مرحبا بكم أنتم مني، وأنا منكم. وحضرت الصلاة، فقام بلال، فأذن، وجعل يستدير في أذانه، ثم أتى رسول الله ﷺ بإناء فيه ماء، فتوضأ، وفضلت فضلة من وضوئه، فجعلنا لا نألوا أن نتوضأ مما بقي من وضوئه، ثم أقام بلال الصلاة، فصلى بنا رسول الله ﷺ، ركعتين، ثم حضرت العصر، فقام بلال، فأذن، فجعل يستدير في أذانه، فصلى بنا رسول الله ﷺ ركعتين.
Ibn Saad narrated it in Tabaqat Kabir (1/311), and Musaddad, Ibn Abu Shayba, and Abu Yaala in their Masaneed as found in Matalib Aliyah (4145), and Bazzar in Kashf Astar (2831), and Tabarani in Kabir (22/106), all of them through routes from Hajjaj bin Artah, from Awn bin Abu Juhayfa, from his father, who said, and then he related it. The wording given is that of Ibn Saad, and the others limited themselves to the part about the welcoming greeting, without his saying "I am one of you," except for Tabarani.Haythami criticized it in Majma (10/51) on account of the tadlis of Hajjaj bin Artah. He is correct in this, except that Hajjaj was corroborated. Ibn Hibban narrated it (7293) from Muhammad bin Umar bin Yusuf, who said, Yusuf bin Musa narrated to us, who said, Waki narrated to us, who said, Misar bin Kidam narrated to us, from Awn bin Abu Juhayfa, from his father, who said, and then he related it. As for Ibn Hibban's teacher Muhammad bin Umar bin Yusuf, I have not come across a biography of him.Tabarani also narrated it in Kabir (22/114) from Muhammad bin Abdullah Hadrami, who said, Yahya Himani narrated to us, who said, Qays bin Rabi narrated to us, from Awn bin Abu Juhayfa, from his father, with the same wording. Qays bin Rabi is a subject of criticism.These various routes strengthen one another, and the hadith rises to the level of hasan.
