Tirmidhi (3903), Abu Yaala (3389, 1420), and Tabarani in Al-Kabir (5/101) reported it, and Hakim graded it sahih (4/79). All of them narrated it through Muhammad bin Thabit Bunani, from his father, from Anas bin Malik, from Abu Talha, who said, and he mentioned it.Muhammad bin Thabit Bunani is daif, but he has been corroborated. Tabarani reported it in Al-Kabir (5/110) from Ali bin Abdul-Aziz, who said, Muslim bin Ibrahim narrated to us, who said, Hasan bin Abu Jafar narrated to us, who said, Thabit narrated to us, from Anas, from Abu Talha, who said, and he mentioned it.Hasan bin Abu Jafar is Abu Saeed Jafari, who is daif, while the rest of the narrators are trustworthy. Ali bin Abdul-Aziz, Tabarani's teacher, is Baghawi. With these two routes together, the hadith rises to the level of hasan. Tirmidhi said, "This is a hasan sahih hadith."Ahmad (12521), Tayalisi (2162), and Bazzar (6906) reported it, all through Muhammad bin Thabit Bunani, from his father, from Anas, that the Prophet ﷺ said to Abu Talha... and the rest of the hadith. They placed it among the musnad narrations of Anas. Perhaps one of the narrators shortened the chain and did not mention Abu Talha, or Anas narrated it directly, omitting the intermediary. And Allah knows best what is correct.His words "afiffah" is the plural of "afif," and "ma" here is a verbal noun functioning as a time adverb, meaning, throughout the time I knew them, they refrained from asking others and were patient in battle.
