He came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the day of the Trench while the Prophet was taking pledges from people for migration, and said, "Messenger of Allah, take this man's pledge."The Prophet asked, "Who is this?"He replied, "My cousin, Hawt bin Yazid," or "Yazid bin Hawt."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "I will not take his pledge. People migrate to you Ansar, you do not migrate to them. By the One in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad ﷺ, no man loves the Ansar until he meets Allah except that he meets Allah loving him, and no man hates the Ansar until he meets Allah except that he meets Allah hating him."
Ahmad (15540), Tahawi in Sharh Mushkil (2636–2638), and Tabarani in Al-Kabir (3356–3601) all narrated it through chains going back to Abdul-Rahman bin Ghasil, who said, "Hamza bin Abu Usayd told us" - his father had been present at Badr - from Harith bin Ziyad Saadi, who said, then he related it.Its chain is hasan on account of the discussion surrounding Abdul-Rahman bin Ghasil, for his hadith is hasan. He is Abdul-Rahman bin Sulayman bin Abdullah bin Hanzala Ansari.Ahmad (17937), Ibn Hibban (7273), and Tabarani in Al-Kabir (3357, 3358) all narrated it through Muhammad bin Amr, from Saad bin Mundhir bin Abu Humayd Saadi, from Hamza bin Abu Usayd, who said, "I heard Harith bin Ziyad, a companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ," say, then he related it. They confined themselves to mentioning only love for the Ansar and hatred for them.As for this Saad bin Mundhir, Hafiz said of him that he is "acceptable." And that is indeed the case, since Abdul-Rahman bin Ghasil corroborated him, as mentioned above. Haythami mentioned it in Majma (38/10) and said, "Ahmad and Tabarani narrated it with chains, some of whose narrators are narrators of the Sahih works, except for Muhammad bin Amr, and he is hasan al-hadith."
