The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Were it not for the Hijrah, I would have been a man from the Ansar."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: لولا الهجرة لكنت امرءا من الأنصار.
Tabarani narrated it in Al-Awsat (5365) from Muhammad bin Abu Khuthaymah, who said, Ahmad bin Sayyar Marwazi told us, who said, Abdullah bin Uthman told us, who said, Abu Hamza Sukkari told us, from Ismail bin Abu Khalid, from Abdullah bin Abu Awfa, who said, and then he related it.Its isnad is hasan because of Muhammad bin Abu Khuthaymah, who is Muhammad bin Ahmad bin Abu Khuthaymah. Khatib mentioned him in his Tarikh (1/303) and said, "He was perceptive and knowledgeable." Dhahabi gave his biography in his Tarikh (22/226) and described him as a hafiz. The rest of its narrators are trustworthy.Abdullah bin Uthman is Ibn Jabalah Marwazi, nicknamed Abdan. Abu Hamza Sukkari's name is Muhammad bin Maymun Marwazi.
