Narrated by Nasai in Kubra (8274), Ahmad (16871, 16920, 16919), Ibn Abu Shayba (33023), and Tabarani in Kabir (29/318), all of them through the route of Saad bin Ibrahim, from Hakam bin Mina, that Yazid bin Jariya informed him that he was sitting among a group of the Ansar, when Muawiya came out to them and asked them about what they were discussing. They said, "We were discussing a matter from the traditions of the Ansar." Muawiya said, "Shall I add to what you have with a hadith I heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?" They said, "Yes indeed, O Commander of the Faithful." He said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say," and he related it.Its chain is sahih. Yazid bin Jariya, also said to be Yazid bin Jariya al-Ansari al-Madani, was deemed reliable by Nasai, and Ibn Hibban listed him among the trustworthy narrators. As for Ibn Hajar's statement that he is "acceptable," this is not acceptable. Saad bin Ibrahim is the son of Abdul-Rahman bin Awf.
