The sister of Rabi, Umm Haritha, wounded another person, and the matter was brought before the Prophet ﷺ. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Retaliation, retaliation."Umm Rabi said, "Messenger of Allah, will retaliation be carried out against so-and-so? By Allah, no retaliation shall be taken from her."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Glory be to Allah, Umm Rabi, retaliation is prescribed in the Book of Allah."She said, "No, by Allah, retaliation will never be taken from her."She kept insisting until the other party accepted the blood-money. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Among the servants of Allah are those who, if they swore an oath by Allah, He would fulfill it for them."
أن أخت الربيع أم حارثة جرحت إنسانا فاختصموا إلى النبي ﷺ فقال رسول الله ﷺ: القصاص القصاص. فقالت أم الربيع: يا رسول الله! أيقتص من فلانة؟ والله لا يقتص منها، فقال رسول الله ﷺ: سبحان الله يا أم الربيع القصاص في كتاب الله. قالت: لا والله ولا يقتص منها أبدا، قال: فما زالت حتى قبلوا الدية، فقال رسول الله ﷺ: إن من عباد الله من لو أقسم على الله لأبره.
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Qasama (1675), from Abu Bakr bin Abu Shayba, who said, Affan bin Muslim narrated to us, who said, Hammad bin Salama narrated to us, who said, Thabit informed us, from Anas, and he related it.This is how Muslim narrated it, with the incident happening to the sister of Rabi. Some scholars held that the incident happened to Rabi herself, not to her sister. The one who swore the oath in this account is the mother of Rabi, while in the version of Bukhari the one who swears is Anas bin Nadr. Some scholars therefore held that these are two separate sahih incidents.
