Nasai (3375) and Bayhaqi (7/252) both narrated it from the hadith of Hisham bin Abdul-Malik, who said, Hammad narrated to us, from Ayub, from Ikrima, from Ibn Abbas, that Ali said, and then he related it. Its isnad is sahih. Hammad here is Ibn Salama.His words, "Ibni abi," mean "make me one who consummates the marriage with my wife." Bina and ibtina refer to consummating a marriage with one's wife, and the term comes from the practice of building a tent for the bride and groom.His words, "Hutaymah," refer to a tribe called Hutmah, who used to make armor.As for what was narrated from Hajr bin Qays, who had lived through the pre-Islamic era, he said, "Ali asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ for [Fatimah's hand in marriage], and he said, 'She is yours, O Ali, for I am no deceiver.'" This is fabricated.Bazzar narrated it in Kashf Astar (1406) from Zayd bin Akhzam, who said Abdullah bin Dawud narrated to us, who said Musa bin Qays narrated to us, from Hajr bin Qays, and he related it.Tabarani narrated it through this same route in al-Kabir (4/40), except that he did not mention his words ﷺ, "I am no deceiver." Rather, he said in it, "She is yours, on condition that you treat her well."Aqeeli also recorded it in Duafa Kabir (4/165) from the hadith of Musa bin Qays Hadrami, who was nicknamed "Sparrow of Paradise" and who was among the extremists of the Rafidah.Aqeeli said, "These hadiths are among the best things that the Sparrow narrates, though he also narrates poor, fabricated hadiths." End of quote.Bazzar said, "We do not know of Hajr narrating from the Prophet ﷺ except this one, and we do not know it except through this isnad."
