Ali mentioned the daughter of Abu Jahl, and word of this reached the Prophet ﷺ, who said, "Fatimah is but a part of me. What hurts her hurts me, and what troubles her troubles me."
أن عليا ذكر ابنة أبي جهل، فبلغ ذلك النبي ﷺ فقال: إنما فاطمة بضعة مني، يؤذيني ما آذاها، و ينصبني ما أنصبها.
Tirmidhi (3869), Ahmad (16123), and Tabarani in Al-Kabir (22/405) all narrated it, and Hakim declared it sahih (3/159), all of them through the route of Ismail bin Ibrahim bin Ulayya, who said, Ayub informed us, from Abdullah bin Abu Mulayka, from Abdullah bin Zubayr, and he mentioned it. Its isnad is sahih.Tirmidhi said, This is a hasan sahih hadith. Ayub narrated it this way, from Ibn Abu Mulayka, from Ibn Zubayr, while more than one narrator reported it from Ibn Abu Mulayka, from Miswar bin Makhrama. It is possible that Ibn Abu Mulayka narrated from both of them.I say, it is as he said, for Ayub Sakhtiyani is among the trustworthy and precise narrators, and his additional report is accepted. His saying, "What tires her tires me," means what wearies her wearies me, as it appears in the version of Tabarani.
