The Messenger of Allah ﷺ married Maymuna while he was not in the state of ihram, and he consummated the marriage with her at Sarif. The grave of Maymuna was at Sarif.
تزوج رسول الله ﷺ ميمونة وهو حلال، وبنى بها بسرف، وكان قبر ميمونة بسرف.
Nasai narrated it in Sunan al-Kubra (5328) from Amr bin Hisham Harrani, who said, Makhlad bin Yazid narrated to us, from Jafar meaning Ibn Barqan, from Maymun meaning Ibn Mihran, from Safiya, who said, and he mentioned it. Its chain is hasan because of Jafar bin Barqan Kullabi, for his hadith is hasan.Ibn Saad narrated it in Tabaqat (8/133), and Tabarani in Kabir (24/324), and in Awsat, Majma Bahrayn (2373), both of them through the route of Abdul-Kareem bin Malik Jazari, from Maymun bin Mihran, who said, I came to Safiya bint Shayba, an old elderly woman, and I asked her, "Did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ marry Maymuna while he was in the state of ihram?" She said, "No, by Allah, he married her while both of them were free from the restrictions of ihram."Haythami said in Majma (4/268), "Tabarani narrated it in Kabir and Awsat, and the men of Kabir are the men of the Sahih."Safiya bint Shayba bin Uthman Abdariya had seen the Prophet ﷺ and heard from him, as is found in Bukhari (1349).His saying "Sarif" refers to a place north of Makkah, twelve kilometers away from Makkah.
