Someone said, "Umm Muiminin, tell us about the private conduct of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."She replied, "His private conduct and his public conduct were the same."Then she regretted what she had said and thought to herself, "I have disclosed the private affairs of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."She said, "When he came in, I told him what had happened, and he said, 'You did well.'"
يا أم المؤمنين، حدثينا عن سر رسول الله ﷺ قالت: كان سره وعلانيته سواء، ثم ندمت، فقلت: أفشيت سر رسول الله ﷺ، قالت: فلما دخل أخبرته فقال: أحسنت.
Ahmad (26637) and Tabarani in Al-Kabir (23/323) both narrated it through the route of Muhammad bin Ubayd, who said, Amash narrated to us, from Amr bin Mura, from Yahya bin Jazzar, who said, Some of the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to Umm Salama and said, "O Mother of the Believers, tell us about the secret of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." He said, and he then mentioned it.Its chain is hasan because of Yahya bin Jazzar, whom a group of scholars have deemed reliable, except that he was inclined toward Shiism, and his hadith is hasan. Haythami mentioned it in Al-Majmu (8/284) and attributed it to Ahmad and Tabarani, saying, "Their narrators are the narrators of the Sahih."
