Safiyyah was traveling with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and it was her appointed day with him. She fell behind during the journey, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to meet her and found her weeping, saying, "You have mounted me on a slow camel."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ began wiping her eyes with his hands and trying to quiet her, but she would not stop crying. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ became angry and left her.She arrived at camp and went to Ayesha, saying, "I will give you my day with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ if you can make him pleased with me."Ayesha took her head-cover, which she had dyed with wars and saffron, and sprinkled some water on it. Then she came and sat by the head of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to her, "What is the matter with you?"She replied, "That is the bounty of Allah which He gives to whom He wills."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ understood what had happened, and he was pleased with Safiyyah. He then went to Zaynab and said to her, "Safiyyah's camel has worn out beneath her. Would you give her your camel?"Zaynab said, "Should I give my camel to that Jewess?"So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ kept away from her for three months and did not approach her house. Zaynab neglected herself and neglected her home, and she pushed her bed to the back of the room, having lost all hope that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would come to her. Then one day, she suddenly sensed the presence of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ entering her house, and he placed the bed back in its proper place.Zaynab said, "Messenger of Allah, my servant girl so-and-so has just become pure from her menses today. She is yours."So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon her and was pleased with her.

Abu Hatim said, "He is truthful," and Nasai said, "There is no harm in him."His statement, "al-wajs," means a faint sound.
