The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Indeed, Allah created Adam from a handful that He took from the entire earth, so the children of Adam came forth according to the earth. Among them came the red, the white, and the black, and shades in between, the easy-natured and the harsh, the wicked and the good."
Abu Dawud (4693) and Tirmidhi (2958) both narrated it from the hadith of Yahya bin Saeed, from Awf bin Abu Jameela Arabi, from Qusama bin Zuhayr, from Abu Musa Ashari, and mentioned it, and their wording is the same. Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih and reported it in the Book of Tawhid (101, 102) through this route, as Hakim also reported it (2/261) through another route from Awf, and said, "This is a hadith sahih in its isnad." Tirmidhi said, "Hasan sahih."I say, it is as he said, and Qusama bin Zuhayr Mazini Basri was deemed reliable by Ajli and Ibn Saad, and Ibn Hibban mentioned him in Thiqat. His saying, "harsh," means rough and coarse of nature.
