Ayesha said, "Are you not surprised at Abu Hurairah? He came and sat beside my chamber, narrating from the Prophet ﷺ so that I would hear him. I was performing my supererogatory prayer, and he got up before I could finish. Had I caught him, I would have replied to him that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ did not rattle off hadith the way you people do."
أن عائشة قالت: ألا يعجبك أبو هريرة جاء؟ فجلس إلى جنب حجرتي يحدث عن النبي ﷺ يسمعني ذلك، وكنت أسبح، فقام قبل أن أقضي سبحتي، ولو أدركته لرددت عليه: إن رسول الله ﷺ لم يكن يسرد الحديث كسردكم.
Muslim narrated it in the Virtues of the Companions (2493) from Harmala bin Yahya Tujibi, Ibn Wahb told us, Yunus informed me, from Ibn Shihab, that Urwa bin Zubayr told him, that Ayesha said, then he mentioned it.Bukhari narrated it in the Merits (3568) as a suspended narration, saying, "Layth said, Yunus told me, from Ibn Shihab," in a similar manner, and in it, "Doesn't so-and-so amaze you," instead of Abu Hurairah.
