Abu Hurairah said, "I used to call my mother to Islam while she was a polytheist. One day I called her, and she said something about the Messenger of Allah ﷺ that I detested. So I went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ weeping and said, 'Messenger of Allah, I have been calling my mother to Islam but she refuses. Today I called her and she said something about you that I detested. Pray to Allah to guide the mother of Abu Hurairah.'"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "O Allah, guide the mother of Abu Hurairah."Abu Hurairah continued, "I left rejoicing at the prayer of the Prophet of Allah ﷺ. When I came back and reached the door, I found it shut. My mother heard my footsteps and said, 'Stay where you are, Abu Hurairah.' I heard the splashing of water. She bathed, put on her shift, hurriedly threw on her head covering, then opened the door and said, 'Abu Hurairah, I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and His messenger.'"He continued, "I returned to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ weeping out of joy. I said, 'Messenger of Allah, rejoice, for Allah has answered your prayer and guided the mother of Abu Hurairah.' He praised Allah, glorified Him, and spoke kindly. I then said, 'Messenger of Allah, pray to Allah to make my mother and me beloved to His believing servants, and to make them beloved to us.'"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "O Allah, make this little servant of Yours," meaning Abu Hurairah, "and his mother beloved to Your believing servants, and make the believers beloved to them."So no believer was created who heard of me or saw me except that he loved me.
Muslim narrated it in the Book of the Virtues of the Companions (2491) from Amr Naqid, who said, Umar bin Yunus Yamami told us, Ikrima bin Ammar told us, from Abu Kathir, who said, Abu Hurairah narrated to me, and he mentioned it.Abu Hurairah's statement, "No believer who hears of me or sees me has ever been created except that he loved me," means that no one bore hatred toward me because of the Prophet's ﷺ supplication for me. As for the scholarly matters that arose between Abu Hurairah and other senior companions, these do not negate the existence of love between him and the companions and the followers, down to our own day, except in the case of those who deviated and fabricated lies against him, and such people carry no weight.
