The Messenger of Allah ﷺ performed the funeral prayer over Ibn Dahdah. Then a bareback horse was brought, and a man fitted it with a halter and the Prophet ﷺ mounted it. The horse began to trot briskly with him while we followed behind, running after him.A man from the group said, "The Prophet ﷺ said, 'How many a cluster of dates is hanging, or suspended, in Paradise for Ibn Dahdah.'"Or Shuba said, "for Ubayy Dahdah."
صلى رسول الله ﷺ على ابن الدحداح، ثم أتي بفرس عري، فعلقه رجل فركبه، فجعل يتوقص به، ونحن نتبعه نسعى خلفه قال: فقال رجل من القوم: إن النبي ﷺ قال: كم من عذق معلق- أو مدلى- في الجنة لابن الدحداح. أو قال شعبة: لأبي الدحداح.
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Funerals (965) through several routes from Muhammad bin Jafar, who said, Shuba narrated to us, from Simak bin Harb, from Jabir bin Samura, who said, and then he related it.His saying, "a bare horse," means one without a saddle on it. And his saying, "idhq," with a kasrah on the ain, refers to a branch of the palm tree.
