Nabeesha came in to visit us, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had named him Nabisha Khayr. He had once entered upon the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while there were captives with him and said, "Messenger of Allah, either show them favor by releasing them or accept ransom for them."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "You have commanded what is good. You are Nabisha Khayr from now on."
دخل علينا نبيشة، وكان رسول الله ﷺ سماه نبيشة الخير، دخل على رسول الله ﷺ وعنده أسارى، يا رسول الله، إما أن تمن عليهم وإما أن تفاديهم، فقال رسول الله ﷺ: أمرت بخير، أنت نبيشة الخير بعد ذلك.

Hakim narrated it (3/463) from Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Musa Adl, who said, Muhammad bin Ayub narrated to us, who said, Isa bin Ibrahim Baraki narrated to us, who said, Mualla bin Rashid Nabbal Abu Yaman narrated to us, who said, Umm Asim narrated to me, and he mentioned it.Its chain is hasan, because most of the narrators in the chain are trustworthy. Umm Asim, the grandmother of Mualla bin Rashid, was a Tabiee who narrated from a number of companions, just as a number of narrators narrated from her, and this report rests upon her. The fame of Nubayshah Khayr makes the unclear status of Umm Asim of no consequence. And success comes from Allah.
