I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and asked his permission to place my hand inside the opening of his shirt, and he was praying for me. Nothing prevented me from touching him, since he had given permission with his prayer. I found upon the upper part of his shoulder blade something like a lump.
أتيت رسول الله ﷺ فاستأذنته أن أدخل يدي في جربانه، وإنه ليدعو لي فما منعه أن ألمسه أن دعا قال: فوجدت على نغض كتفه مثل السلعة.
Recorded by Ahmad (15582), Tayalisi (1167), and Tabarani in al-Kabir (19/25), all of them through the route of Qurra bin Khalid, who said, "I heard Muawiya bin Qurra narrating from his father, Qurra bin Iyas," and he related it. Its chain of transmission is sahih.His saying "al-jurban" means the collar of the shirt. His saying "al-nagd" means the top of the shoulder. It has also been said to mean a thin bone at its edge. In Musnad Tayalisi it appears as "like an egg" instead of "like a lump."Ahmad (15583) also recorded it from Wahb bin Jareer, who said, Shuba narrated to us, from Abu Iyas (he is Muawiya bin Qurra bin Iyas al-Muzani), from his father, that he came to the Prophet ﷺ, so he prayed for him and wiped his head. Its chain of transmission is sahih.
