The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Ammar while he was digging the trench, wiping his head and saying, "Alas, son of Sumayy, a rebellious faction will kill you."
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال لعمار حين جعل يحفر الخندق، وجعل يمسح رأسه ويقول: بؤس ابن سمية، تقتلك فئة باغية.
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Tribulations and Signs of the Hour (2915) through several routes from Muhammad bin Jafar, who said, Shuba told us, from Abu Maslama, who said, I heard Abu Nadra narrating from Abu Saeed Khudri, who said, "Abu Qatada, who is better than me, informed me," and he mentioned the hadith. The rest of the hadiths on this subject are mentioned in the Book of Tribulations.Among the reports about him is what Ibrahim bin Abdul-Rahman bin Awf narrated, saying, I heard Ammar bin Yasir at Siffin, on the day he was killed, calling out, "Paradise has drawn near, and the wide-eyed maidens have been wed, today we meet our beloved Muhammad ﷺ. He pledged to me that the last provision I would take from this world would be a mixture of milk with water." Hakim narrated it (3/389), and from his route Bayhaqi narrated it in Dalail (2/552), through the route of Hasan bin Sufyan (who is Fasawi Shaybani), who said, Harmala bin Yahya told us, Abdullah bin Wahb told us, Ibrahim bin Saad informed me (he is the son of Ibrahim bin Abdul-Rahman bin Awf Zuhri Madani), from his father, from his grandfather Ibrahim bin Abdul-Rahman bin Awf, and he mentioned the hadith.Its chain is hasan because of Harmala bin Yahya, for he is hasan al-hadith.
