Umm Ala said, "Uthman bin Mazun was assigned to us for lodging when the Ansar drew lots over housing the Muhajirun. He fell ill, and we nursed him until he passed away. We then wrapped him in his shrouds, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon us."I said, "May Allah have mercy on you, Abu Saaib. My testimony concerning you is that Allah has surely honored you."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "How do you know?"I replied, "I do not know, by Allah."He said, "As for him, certainty has come to him, and indeed I hope good for him from Allah. By Allah, though I am the Messenger of Allah, I do not know what will be done with him, nor with you."Umm Ala said, "By Allah, I will never declare anyone pure after him."She continued, "Then I saw in a dream a flowing spring belonging to Uthman, so I went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and mentioned it to him."He said, "That is his deeds flowing on for him."
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Dream Interpretation (7018), from Abdan, who said, Abdullah informed us, Maamar informed us, from Zuhri, from Kharija bin Zayd bin Thabit, from Umm Ala, who said, and then she mentioned it.
