He came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "Messenger of Allah, Satan has come between me and my prayer and my recitation, confusing them for me."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ replied, "That is a devil called Khinzab. When you sense his presence, seek refuge with Allah from him and spit lightly to your left three times."He said, "I did that, and Allah drove him away from me."
Muslim narrated it in "Salam" (2203), from Yahya bin Khalaf Bahili, who said, Abdul-Ala narrated to us, from Saeed Jareeri, from Abu Ala (Yazid bin Abdullah bin Shikhir), that Uthman bin Abu As came to the Prophet ﷺ, and he mentioned it.Salim bin Nuh also narrated it from Jareeri but did not mention "three times." The addition of a trustworthy narrator is accepted. Abu Usama supported Abdul-Ala in mentioning the three times. Sufyan also narrated it from Saeed Jareeri, who said, Yazid bin Abdullah bin Shikhir, who is Abu Ala, narrated to us, from Uthman bin Abu As, and he mentioned the same as their hadith.
