The Messenger of Allah ﷺ placed his hand on my shoulder, or on my upper shoulder, Saeed was uncertain which, and then said, "O Allah, grant him deep understanding of the religion and teach him interpretation."
أن رسول الله ﷺ وضع يده على كتفي- أو على منكبي شك سعيد- ثم قال: اللهم فقهه في الدين، وعلمه التأويل.
Ahmad narrated it (2397, 2879) through various routes from Zuhayr Abu Khaythama, from Abdullah bin Uthman bin Khuthaym, from Saeed bin Jubayr, from Ibn Abbas, and he related it. Its chain of transmission is hasan because of Abdullah bin Uthman bin Khuthaym, for his hadith are hasan.
