Two men left the presence of the Prophet ﷺ on a dark night, and there was a light shining before them. When they parted ways, the light split and went with each of them.
أن رجلين خرجا من عند النبي ﷺ في ليلة مظلمة، وإذا نور بين أيديهما حتى تفرقا، فتفرق النور معهما.
Bukhari narrated it in the Virtues of the Ansar (3805) from Ali bin Muslim, who said, Habban bin Hilal narrated to us, Hammam narrated to us, Qatada informed us, from Anas, and he related it as mentioned.Bukhari said, Maamar said, from Thabit, from Anas, that Usayd bin Hudayr and a man from the Ansar. And Hammad said, Thabit informed us, from Anas, Usayd bin Hudayr and Abbad bin Bishr were with the Prophet ﷺ.It becomes clear from these narrations that one of the two unnamed men in the hadith of Qatada is Usayd bin Hudayr. The narration of Maamar was connected by Abdul-Razzaq, and the narration of Hammad was connected by Imam Ahmad, and in their narrations each of the two had a staff in his hand. When they left the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, the staff of one of them shone with light, so they walked in its light, until when the road parted between them, the staff of the other shone with light, so he walked in its light until he reached his family.
