Jibreel, or an angel, came to the Prophet ﷺ and asked, "How do you regard those among you who witnessed Badr?"They replied, "They are the best among us."He said, "Likewise, they are regarded as the best among us, among the angels."
إن جبريل أو ملكا جاء إلى النبي ﷺ فقال: ما تعدون من شهد بدرا فيكم؟ قالو: خيارنا، قال: كذلك هم عندنا خيارنا، من الملائكة.
Ibn Majah (106), Ahmad (15820), and Abd bin Humayd (425) all narrated it via Sufyan (that is, Thawri), from Yahya bin Saeed (that is, Taymi, Abu Hayan), from Abaya bin Rifa, from his grandfather Rafi bin Khadij, who mentioned it. Ibn Hibban (7224) graded it sahih.Its chain of transmission is sahih.
