Narrated by Abu Dawud (4654), Ahmad (7940), and Hakim (4/77, 78), all of them through the route of Yazid bin Harun, [who said] Hammad bin Salama informed us, from Asim, from Abu Salih, from Abu Hurairah, who said, then he related it.Hakim said, "This is a hadith sahih in isnad, but the two of them did not narrate it with this wording as a matter of certainty, that Allah Almighty looked upon them and forgave them, rather they narrated it as a matter of supposition, 'And how do you know, perhaps Allah Almighty looked upon the people of Badr.'"I say, this is how Yazid bin Harun narrated it from Hammad bin Salama, as a matter of certainty. Musa bin Ismail Tabuzaki narrated it as found in Abu Dawud (4654), and Amr bin Asim narrated it as found in Darimi's Musnad (2803), both of them from Hammad bin Salama, with the wording as a matter of supposition, "Perhaps Allah looked upon the people of Badr and said, Do as you wish, for I have already forgiven you."Its isnad is hasan because of Asim, who is Ibn Abu Najud, for his narrations are hasan.
