Ahmad (1629) narrated it, and this is his wording, as did Abu Dawud (4650) and Ibn Majah (133), all from the hadith of Sadaqa bin Muthanna Nakhai. He said, my grandfather Riyah bin Harith told me that Mughira bin Shuba was in the great masjid, with the people of Kufa around him on his right and his left. A man called Saeed bin Zayd came to him, and Mughira greeted him and seated him near his feet on the couch. Then a man from Mughira's household came forward and stood before Mughira, cursing repeatedly. Saeed bin Zayd said, "Who is being cursed like this, Mughira?" Mughira said, "Ali bin Abu Talib is being cursed." Saeed bin Zayd said, "Mughira bin Shuba, Mughira bin Shuba" three times, "am I to hear the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ being cursed in your presence, while you neither object nor change it?" He then continued the hadith. Its chain of transmission is sahih.Tirmidhi (3748) also narrated it, from Salih bin Mismar Marwazi, who said, Ibn Abu Fudayk told us, from Musa bin Yaqub, from Umar bin Saeed, from Abdul-Rahman bin Humayd, from his father, that Saeed bin Zayd told him, in the presence of a group of people, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Ten people are in Paradise. Abu Bakr is in Paradise, Umar is in Paradise, Uthman, Ali, Zubayr, Talha, Abdul-Rahman, Abu Ubayda, and Saad bin Abu Waqqas." He said, he counted these nine and remained silent about the tenth, so the people said, "We beg you by Allah, Abu Awar, who is the tenth?" He said, "Since you have begged me by Allah, Abu Awar is in Paradise." He said, Abu Awar is Saeed bin Zayd bin Amr bin Nufayl.I heard Muhammad say, this is more sahih than the first hadith, meaning what was narrated by Tirmidhi (3747), Ahmad (1675), and Nasai in Kubra (8138), and which Ibn Hibban graded sahih (7002), all of them by way of Qutayba bin Saeed, who said, Abdul-Aziz bin Muhammad, that is Darawardi, told us, from Abdul-Rahman bin Humayd, from his father, from Abdul-Rahman bin Awf, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Abu Bakr is in Paradise, Umar is in Paradise, Uthman is in Paradise, Ali is in Paradise, Talha is in Paradise, Zubayr is in Paradise, Abdul-Rahman bin Awf is in Paradise, Saad is in Paradise, Saeed is in Paradise, and Abu Ubayda bin Jarra is in Paradise."This hadith, as narrated by Abdul-Aziz Darawardi, and as narrated by Musa bin Yaqub Zami, was mentioned by Ibn Abu Hatim to his father, and he asked, "Which of the two is more likely to be correct?" Abu Hatim said, "Musa's hadith is more likely to be correct, because this hadith is narrated about Saeed through various routes, and nothing is known to have been narrated from Abdul-Rahman bin Awf from the Prophet ﷺ on this matter."
