The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was on Mount Hira along with Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, Ali, Talha, and Zubayr when the rock began to shake. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Be still, for there is none upon you but a prophet, a truthful one, or a martyr."
أن رسول الله ﷺ كان على حراء هو وأبو بكر، وعمر، وعثمان، وعلي، وطلحة، والزبير فتحركت الصخرة، فقال رسول الله ﷺ: اهدأ، فما عليك إلا نبي، أو صديق، أو شهيد.
Muslim narrated it in the Virtues of the Companions (2417-50), from Qutayba bin Saeed, from Abdul-Aziz bin Muhammad, from Suhayl, from his father, from Abu Hurairah, and related it.As for the mention of Saad bin Abu Waqqas in the other narration of Muslim (2417), it appears to be an error on the part of some of the narrators, because it is firmly established as sahih that he died in his house at Aqiq, and prayer was performed over him in Masjid Nabawi.As for the mention of "Hira" in this hadith, the sahih view is that it should be "Uhud," as is established in other hadiths, because it appears in Musnad Harith bin Abu Usama, from Rawh bin Ubada, from Saeed bin Abu Aruba, from Qatada, from Anas, who said in it, "Uhud or Hira," expressing doubt. Hafiz mentioned this in Fath al-Bari (38/7), and the hadith of Anas is in the Sahih, as mentioned before.I say, taking the certain reading is preferable, and the possibility that the incident occurred more than once is unlikely.
