A man in Kufa testified that Uthman ﷺ was killed as a martyr. The guards seized him and brought him before Ali ﷺ, saying, "Had you not forbidden us, or had you not commanded us, not to kill anyone, we would have killed him. This man claims to bear witness that Uthman ﷺ was killed as a martyr."The man said to Ali ﷺ, "Will you yourself bear witness? Do you remember that I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and asked him, and he gave to me, then I came to Abu Bakr ﷺ and asked him, and he gave to me, then I came to Umar ﷺ and asked him, and he gave to me, then I came to Uthman ﷺ and asked him, and he gave to me? Then I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, 'Messenger of Allah, ask Allah to bless these gifts for me.' The Prophet ﷺ said, 'How could it not be blessed for you when a prophet, a truthful one, and two martyrs have given to you, and a prophet, a truthful one, and two martyrs have given to you, and a prophet, a truthful one, and two martyrs have given to you?'"
