A man had a debt owed to him by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he spoke harshly to him. The companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ were about to deal with him, but the Prophet ﷺ said to them, "Leave him, for the one who has a right is entitled to speak."Then he said to them, "Buy him a camel of the same age and give it to him."They said, "We can only find one of a better age than his."He said, "Buy it and give it to him, for the best of you," or "the best among you, is the one who is best in repaying debts."
حدثنا محمد بن جعفر قال حدثنا شعبة عن سلمة بن كهيل عن أبي سلمة
كان لرجل على رسول الله ﷺ حق فأغلظ له فهم به أصحاب رسول الله ﷺ فقال لهم النبي ﷺ فإن لصاحب الحق مقالا وقال لهم اشتروا له سنا فأعطوه فقالوا إنا لا نجد إلا سنا أفضل من سنه فقال اشتروا له فأعطوه فقال إن من خيركم أو خيركم أحسنكم قضاء
