They said, "Messenger of Allah, we find within ourselves thoughts so troubling that we would rather fall from the sky than speak them, and we would gladly give all that the sun rises upon to be rid of them."He asked, "Have you actually experienced that?"They replied, "Yes."He said, "That is pure faith."
حدثنا محمد بن عبيد ويزيد قال أخبرنا محمد بن عمرو عن أبي سلمة
قالوا يا رسول الله إنا نجد في أنفسنا ما يسرنا نتكلم به وإن لنا ما طلعت عليه الشمس قال أوجدتم ذلك قالوا نعم قال ذاك صريح الإيمان
Its isnad is sahih. The hadith is found in Muslim, in the Book of Iman, 209, and in Abu Dawud, in the Book of Adab, 119.
