The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The evil eye is real. Satan attends it, along with the envy of the son of Adam."
حدثنا ابن نمير قال حدثنا ثور يعني ابن يزيد عن مكحول
قال رسول الله ﷺ العين حق ويحضر بها الشيطان وحسد ابن آدم

Its isnad is sahih. Haythami also graded it sahih (5/107) and said, "Its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except for Ahmad." As for his saying, "and the envy of the son of Adam," it means the envy of the son of Adam is present.
