Shurayh bin Hani reported,
I asked Ayesha 
about wiping over the leather socks. She said, "Ask Ali bin Abu Talib 
, for he used to travel with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ."So I asked him, and he said, "For the traveler, three days and their nights, and for the resident, one day and one night."Yahya said, "Shuba used to raise it as a marfu report, then he left off doing so."

Sahihحدثنا يحيى بن سعيد عن شعبة قال حدثني الحكم عن القاسم بن مخيمرة
عن شريح بن هانئ قال
سألت عائشة رضي الله عنها عن المسح على الخفين قالت سل علي بن أبي طالب رضي الله عنه فإنه كان يسافر مع رسول الله ﷺ فسألته فقال للمسافر ثلاثة أيام ولياليهن وللمقيم يوم وليلة قال يحيى وكان يرفعه يعني شعبة ثم تركه
Its isnad is sahih, and it is a repetition of 907 and given at greater length in 949. Yahya's statement that Shubah used to narrate the hadith as marfu and then stopped narrating it as marfu is neither a criticism of it nor a declaration of weakness, for other trustworthy narrators narrated it as marfu, and he himself had narrated it as marfu before. If he doubted its being marfu until he stopped narrating it that way, his doubt was simply due to his caution in transmission, and a trustworthy narrator's doubt does not overturn what has been established.
