Or perhaps "qarid," Ismail was uncertain. Abu Hurayrah ate some pieces of dried curd, then performed ablution. He said, "Do you know why I performed ablution? I ate pieces of dried curd, so I performed ablution from it. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Perform ablution after eating what fire has touched.'"
حدثنا إسماعيل قال حدثنا معمر عن الزهري عن عمر بن عبد العزيز
أو قارض لا أدري شك إسماعيل أن أبا هريرة أكل أثوار أقط فتوضأ فقال أتدرون مما توضأت إني أكلت أثوار أقط فتوضأت منه إني سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول توضئوا مما مست النار
Its chain of transmission is sahih. Muslim reported it in 1/272, no. 352, in the chapter on menstruation, on wudu from what fire has touched. Abu Dawud reported it in no. 195, in the chapter on purification, on the emphasis on wudu from what fire has touched. Ibn Majah reported it in 1/163, no. 485, in the chapter on purification, on wudu from what fire has changed in color. And Abdul-Razzaq reported it in 1/172, no. 666, in the chapter on purification, on what has been reported concerning what fire has touched.
